Charges dropped against woman accused of ramming vehicle of Border Patrol officer stationed in Maine

Charges dropped against woman accused of ramming vehicle of Border Patrol officer stationed in Maine

A woman who was shot by a Border Patrol agent from Maine last month has had charges against her dropped.

On Thursday, prosecutors dismissed the charges against 30-year-old Marimar Martinez and 21-year-old Anthony Ruiz, who were accused of ramming a Border Patrol vehicle in the Chicago area last month during a crackdown operation.

Martinez was shot by Border Patrol Agent Charles Exum, who then drove the damaged vehicle back to Maine where he’s stationed.

Martinez’s lawyer claimed body camera footage contradicted the federal government’s narrative, saying Exum was the one who steered into Martinez.
