The body of a second person who went missing after the vehicle they were in was swept away by floodwaters in the town of Mexico has been found.

There were four occupants in the truck that was being driven by 61-year-old Gertrude Richard of Mexico when it was carried away by water from the Swift River during Monday’s storm. The truck was swept under the Red Bridge near the Rumford town line.

Two of the passengers were able to get out and were treated for hypothermia.

Richard and 20-year-old Ciara Cooper of Mexico were both missing. Richard’s body was found Wednesday inside the vehicle. Police said Cooper’s body was found Thursday morning about 100 feet from the bridge.

Police have also released the name of the man who died while trying to move a downed tree at his Fairfield home during the storm on Monday.

Police say the victim was identified as 77-year-old William Tanner. He was struck by the tree as he attempted to move it with a tractor.

He was one of two people who died Monday after being struck by fallen debris. 40-year-old Troy Olson of Windham died after a piece of a tree fell on him while he was clearing debris from the roof of his home during the storm.
