Maine Turnpike Authority Reminds Drivers to Proceed With Caution Amid Snowstorm

Staff at the Maine Turnpike are preaching careful driving habits during today’s snowstorm.

Rebecca Grover with the Turnpike Authority reminds drivers to take every precaution before getting on the road, including going the speed limit and giving plow drivers room to operate.

“We would just want to remind folks to give our plow drivers space, Grover said. During a snowstorm, the speed limit has been set for a reason, and we encourage people to go that speed limit and also clear the snow off your vehicle.”

Grover says the moderate storm eases the public into reacclimating to drive in the snow.

“The road is better behind the plow than in front of the plow, so just go slow, and give them their space,” said Grover.

The speed limit on the Turnpike has been reduced to 45 MPH from the Turnpike all the way to the New Hampshire line.

Crews from the Turnpike Authority have been prepared for the storm, with a plethora of trucks fueled, calibrated, and loaded.
