Maine Woman Serious Injured in Sagadahoc County Crash

Woolwich crash - Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office

A 33-year-old Biddeford man faces charges, and a woman has serious injuries from a head-on crash on Route 1 in Woolwich on Sunday night.

Sagadahoc County deputies say a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by Porter Sickels was traveling south on U.S. Route 1 near the southern entrance to the Weston Road when it crossed over the centerline into the northbound lane and hit a 2007 Toyota 4Runner driven by 71-year-old Deborah Webster of Round Pond.

Deputies say the pickup truck careened off the road while the Toyota was spun around, coming to rest in the southbound breakdown lane with extensive damage.

They say Webster had to be extracted from her vehicle with serious injuries and was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Life Flight.

Sickels had minor injuries and was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and released. He was then arrested for felony Aggravated Operating Under the Influence with Serious Bodily Injury.. He is currently being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail on $10,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned later this week.

Deputies say a section of Route 1 was closed for just over 3 hours, and was reopened to traffic at 9:30 PM Sunday.
