Amy Allen, a Maine native who grew up in Windham and South Portland, is once again in the spotlight. Allen has been nominated for the Grammy Award for Songwriter of the Year, just months after winning the same honor earlier this year.
The winner will be announced February 1, 2026, during the Grammy Awards broadcast live on CBS. Allen is competing against Edgar Barrera, Jessie Jo Dillon, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Laura Veltz.
Over the past year, Allen has collaborated with pop star Sabrina Carpenter, co-writing every track on Carpenter’s album Man’s Best Friend, released in August. Her previous Grammy win recognized her work with artists including Leon Bridges, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Timberlake, and Tate McRae.
Allen attended Waynflete School in Portland and says her family has been her biggest supporters since she started writing songs at age nine.
