Portland Police are looking for the driver in a hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian on Sunday evening.
Police say an officer working nearby at a homeless center was sent to the scene in the 600 block of Riverside Street at about 6:50 pm.
They say witnesses told the officer that the pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when they were hit by an SUV that stopped briefly before fleeing the scene toward Forest Avenue.
The victim is a 25-year-old resident of the shelter, who was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle involved is described as a silver SUV, believed to be an older-model Honda CR-V.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information to contact Portland Police at (207) 874-8575.
