A Skowhegan man accused of murdering his girlfriend was arrested this morning after a multi-state police chase.

In a statement, Maine State Police say they identified 55-year-old Dane Burke of Skowhegan as the suspect in the killing of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Nichole Jackson. Jackson’s body was found by police late Wednesday night, with her cause of death appearing to be blunt force and sharp force trauma.

Burke’s vehicle was located in Lowell, Massachusetts at around 8:00 AM, where he didn’t comply with law enforcement attempting to stop his vehicle, leading to a pursuit.

The chase eventually crossed state lines into New Hampshire, where it ended after Burke crashed his car into a tree in the town of Dunbarton.

He’s been taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be transported to a NH jail once he’s treated.

The investigation is ongoing.
